About

Gesture Controlled Robot, Information Technology University, Course & Team.

As from name we get little idea of what this project is? Basically this project is a Electrical Engineering 3rd Semester, subject Linear Circuit Analysis Final Project. We started building this project 2 months ago. The idea of this project is based on adding easy solution to our lives and also innovating technology in Pakistan. Along with this motivation is to form better localized solutions for our country Pakistan in which we started with a cause of Do It Yourself Revolution.. Our project scrolls around two different systems described below.

Gesture Controlled Robotic Car

In simple words: We want to add a innovative technology to steered and derived vehicles i.e. Gesture Control. The idea here is to use hand gestures to drive a car or a vehicle. Like we usually point from our hand to turn left or right to each other. But this has been worked before upto our knowledge but those systems were considered vague as human motor actions are considered not to control the vehicle and man build motor actions. So we instead of using a gesture built in a machine we added a glove that will be worn by the driver and he/she will use his/her hand to drive the vehicle in which no distortion can be created along with that we are considering to add a trigger button which activates the glove only if the wrist is closed tightly (for safety purpose).

Autonomous Mapping Robot

Autonomous Robot is a motivation from the incident of 8 October,2005. When Pakistan was hit by a earth quake and many building and areas were damaged with disaster. At that time many people couldn't rescued just because of poor disaster management techniques. So we wanted to make a robot that can go inside a disaster harmed building and map the available paths and detect human life so that they can be rescued easily. This is what we will try to achieve till completing our engineering. For now in the scope of this semester we are building a robot that can map in a pre-defined area with any arrangement of hurdles. For this purpose we are using Slams Algorithm basic form; Wave-Front Algorithm.
